Ready to visit a lake this weekend to cool down from the warm weather? Keep reading to find a few lakes around Vancouver that are worth the trip!
Mystery Lake
Mystery Lake is one of the most beautiful and photogenic lakes around Vancouver. It’s very popular with swimmers on hot summer days, and there’s a moderate trail that makes summer hikers excited for the cold waters of the lake. The water is crystal clear, and the lake is surrounded by rock bluffs! I typically visit Mystery Lake once or twice in the summer and it’s definitely worth the trip.
Buntzen Lake
Another fantastic lake to visit for swimmers is Butnzen Lake. There are plenty of hikes in the area if you’re feeling up for a hike before you dip, you can also rent canoes, picnic, and BBQ if you choose to spend the day! There is also a dog beach area so your furry friends can enjoy swimming in the lake as well.
Joffre Lake
This insta-famous lake although regularly quite busy is a sight to see! The turquoise blue waters of lower, middle and upper Joffre lakes, all three of which are located along the trail are absolutely stunning – you’ll feel as though you’re on vacation! Joffre Lakes Provincial Park has opportunities for hiking, camping, mountaineering, wildlife viewing, and fishing. Please note if you’re planning a visit, a day pass is needed!
Lillooet Lake
Just off the Sea to Sky highway, Lillooet Lake is also a popular place for weekend camping trips for people from all over the Lower Mainland. For campers, this is quite a busy spot so make sure to head over early. If you’re planning on stopping by just to soak in the scenery and go for a dip, I’d recommend arriving in the late morning or early afternoon.
I hope you have a chance to visit one of these wonderful lakes over the weekend. If you have a go-to spot, let me know where it is in the comments below!
