Capilano River Regional Park

Capilano River Regional Park features lush trails and breathtaking views, creating an unforgettable backdrop for hiking, walking, or tail running. The Capilano River, fed by the Cleveland Dam, runs through the park and can rush at over 413,000 litres per second, moving faster than 21 km/hr! While the park is safe for visitors, it’s important to respect the river’s power as you explore its beauty from the park’s scenic trails.

Cleveland Dam and Capilano Lake

The Cleveland Dam, built in 1954, holds back Capilano Lake. This 670-acre lake is a critical source of fresh drinking water for homes in the Lower Mainland, including Edgemont real estate. Situated atop the Capilano River, Cleveland Dam offers breathtaking lake views, with the majestic Lions peaks in the background. The spillway, nearly 300 feet high, is also an impressive sight, especially after heavy rains. Visitors can explore the dam and the surrounding Capilano River Regional Park or hike along the Capilano-Pacific Trail, which runs from Capilano Lake to Ambleside Park.

Capilano Salmon Hatchery

The Capilano Salmon Hatchery in Capilano River Regional Park is a fantastic (and FREE!) place to learn about native salmon and their life cycle. Visitors can embark on a self-guided tour and get a close-up look at these fish as they develop from eggs to juveniles before they are released into the river. Depending on the time of year, you may be able to watch juvenile salmon in the aquarium or see mature salmon navigating the fish ladders – jumping from pool to pool. The hatchery is an exciting experience for all ages and is one of our favourite activities in Edgemont!

Grouse Mountain

Grouse Mountain is an iconic year-round destination for outdoor adventure. Standing 1,250 meters (or 4,100 feet) above Vancouver, Grouse Mountain offers snow sports in the winter, including skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing, and activities like hiking and wildlife encounters (at the Wildlife Refuge) in the summer, spring and fall. Grouse Mountain is a beloved destination where many local children, including all of our children, have their first skiing adventure! The mountain is also home to Skyride – a thrilling 8-minute tram ride that provides breathtaking views of Vancouver and the surrounding North Shore.

Grouse Grind, BCMC Trail and Baden Powell Trail

At the foot of Grouse Mountain, adventurers can embark on several iconic hikes – the world-famous Grouse Grind, the historical BCMC Trail, and the expansive Baden Powell Trail.

  • The Grouse Grind, often called “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster,” tests endurance with its 2.5 km (1.55-mile) 800 meter (2,624 feet) ascent that includes 2,830 steps!
  • For those seeking a less intense (and often quieter) path, the BCMC Trail traces a legacy route up Grouse Mountain, once used by the BC Mountaineering Club.
  • Finally, the Baden Powell Trail is one of our favourite hikes in Edgemont! This 48-km trail connects Deep Cove to Horseshoe Bay, offering a scenic journey across the North Shore.

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

First constructed in 1889, the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is a must-see attraction for both Edgemont real estate owners and visitors. Suspended 70 meters (230 feet) above the Capilano River, the bridge spans 137 meters (450 feet), offering stunning views of the river and surrounding old-growth forest. In addition to the suspension bridge, park visitors can experience several other sights and activities, including First Nations totem poles, Treetops Adventure (a series of suspension bridges high in the forest canopy), Cliffwalk (a narrow walkway clinging to the granite cliffs), guided nature tours, family-friendly programs, and more.

Live and Local

Edgemont Village fills up for the Live and Local summer concert series. This fun, family-friendly event is a highlight of the summer and one we have been to many times! You’ll love this local annual event if you enjoy singing, dancing, and community spirit.

It’s more than just a coffee shop – Delany’s Edgemont Village is a gathering place that fosters community and lasting connections. For this reason (and because of their delicious food and drinks), we recommend Delany’s to all our Edgemont real estate clients.

Cantina Norte

Cantina Norte is more than just a Mexican restaurant – it’s a revival of a cherished community icon. Years ago, when Cafe Norte faced closure, Edgemont Village residents came together, raising over $250,000 to support the family-run spot! This incredible show of community spirit lives on today as the Mitchell family brings back the flavours and memories locals loved. Cantina Norte is a place to gather, reconnect, and create new memories. When you visit, be sure to check out their awesome patio!

Bufala

Bufala in Edgemont, North Vancouver, is one of our favourite places to gather with friends and family. The restaurant serves fresh, scratch-made Napolitana-style pizzas, Italian-inspired small plates, and a great selection of drinks.

Nicli Antica Pizza

Nicli is a family-friendly restaurant in Edgemont Village that blends four generations of Italian tradition with fresh, local ingredients. It’s the perfect place for a casual meal, whether dining in or taking away. Our top picks – a toss-up between the classic Margherita and the indulgent Burrata! Insider Tip: Don’t forget to pair your meal with something from their excellent drink selection.

La Galleria

La Galleria Fine Foods is the go-to local sandwich spot in Edgemont – just be sure to arrive by noon because once they run out of bread, that’s it for the day!

Windsor Meats

Windsor Meats is another great place in Edgemont to get delicious sandwiches! Our top picks are the chicken rice salad and the vegetarian sandwich. If you’re planning a family dinner or barbecue, Windsor Meats is also a great place to grab high-quality meats and chef-made, ready-to-eat meals.
